Re: New Alternator
Neither has mine with its original dynamo
However, you're going to loose all your coolant soon if you don't replace your top radiator hose

Re: New Alternator
Yep, looks as though the splits/ cracks will "let go " any second !! Check that the bottom hose isn't in a similar state of decline.

What's the question in this thread? My £1 alternator hasn't let me down in over 10 years ! Perhaps it's some sort of success story for these 'new' alternators to last a year? I assumed the marks on the top hose are just moulding 'flash'.

Re: New Alternator
Thanks
Hose is now replaced with a new one
my dynamo served me well but I had to trickle feed the battery through winter, a lot of Morris owners I spoke to at Woodvale Rally are now converting back to Dynamo.
Cheers

Hose is now replaced with a new one

No question, I guess I was just proud of myself achieving this installation in relation to my limited skills compared to the more advanced mechanics on here who would find the installation of an alternator as easy as ABCWhat's the question in this thread?

Re: New Alternator
Fantastic result if it's a new one from a LCC.
any time without a failure on cheap far eastern poo is a bonus.
Personally, I wouldn't have one given. There is so much garbage in the market these days. Old is always best, Dynamo was good enough in the 50's, it's good enough now too if it's maintained as it should be.
Just sayin.....

Congratulations! I thought I had alternator trouble over the winter but it turned out to be a broken bulb holder!Cyril wrote:No question, I guess I was just proud of myself achieving this installation in relation to my limited skills compared to the more advanced mechanics on here who would find the installation of an alternator as easy as ABCWhat's the question in this thread?![]()
