Has anyone any suggestions on how to un-do the nut at the carb. end of the acc. cable . I have failed to stop the pin from turning , I have tried holding the pin with a pliers , but no luck so far.The nut doesn't look rusted up, I just can't stop the thing turnig !! Do I pull out the split pin,and remove the pin ,so that I can remove and grip the thing ? ?? Arfron
Small Mole grips are pretty easy to get hold of - lots of welding sets have them, and the packs of 3 from the likes of Bee and Queue often do too, for under a tenner.
Give it a squirt of penetrating oil to assist releasing it, unusual for it to be that bad though you could also try thin nosed pliers rather than standard ones.

"the likes of B&Q" - I can never remember which DIY shop's which! I think it was the one near Sainsburys in Weston-S-M , which isn't a B&Q- but I might be wrong:)

Yup , there was a 'flat' at the end of the pin and nut ,which pinches the throttle cable ( hadn't noticed it ,Willie ). Managed to hold with a GPO wiring type of tool --job done !! Can adjust the tick-over at last . Must have been like it for years with the previous owner !! Arfron
