I think I'm onto something…

Disconnected the fuel pipe from the carb. Turned the ignition on, yes - fuel pump ticks and fuel comes out of pipe. Good.

Took the lid off the carb and freed up the float lever assembly (seemed like it was stuck).

Put it all back and all seems fine. :)

Fired up first time - nice stable idle, raring to go.

Fun this, isn't it? Slowly getting to understand how things work!

Maybe I should now remove the float chamber and clean it all out thoroughly? To reduce the prospect of this happening again.
