Traficators (flashing)

Post by Heronwood »

I have rewired my series 2

i bought a loom with the retro fitted indicators. i got angry to wire it and now the traficators go up and down and flash with the indicators. is this right?

Or how do i cure this? so the traficators stay up whilst the indicators flash?

Its been wired through the flasher unit,if you want both you need to fit two flasher units one for each side so that the trafficators pick up the power from the switch BEFORE the flashers, and stay up, then the flashers pick up the power from unit for each side. The normal system is that the power TO the switch is interupted by the flasher unit and the power is fed to the lights after the switch. With two units the power is constant to the switch(And Trafficators) and then the power from the switch to the lights is interupted by the units which then feeds intermittant power to the side lights ,one for each side circuit.
or fit a separate switch for trafficator, the benefit of having both working at the same time is that the frafficators don't sieze up,which they do if only used now and again.I think there's a wiring diagragm on here somewhere.
