horn and washer bottle not working
Hi all,my horn isn't working or either is my window washer bottle I,ve put power to both using my tester and they both work fine I have power going to one of the horn connections and nothing to the other,as for the water bottle I have one wire coming from the bottle to a swich on the dash and the other one isdoing nothing in the engine bay.unfortunately I have broken the horn push as it was brittle when I was removing it I,m now thinking about a push button horn for the dash rather than the centre piece one.am I right in thinking the horn is an earthing problem?as for the window washer bottle how would you go about wiring that?
Re: horn and washer bottle not working
Window washer should be a simple mechanical push on the dashboard.....Simples ! The horn operates by earthing - it has a constant feed to the horn. You should see this with your meter on both sides of the horn terminals... The lilac is the feed, and the lilac/black is the wire to be earthed... Try it with a spare bit of wire - the horn will sound if ok....

Re: horn and washer bottle not working
Sound like your washer bottle has electric pump. Is one side of the switch on the dash connected to earth and the other side connected to the pump. if so then the other side of the pump needs power, this should be via a fuse.
If its not like above please give more information so problem can be progressed.
Hope the above helps

Yes Andy its an electrical pump on the bottle itself I have put power to it with my tester and it works.what I did notice is that there is a wire connected to the ignition side of the fuse box that has a fuse on it connected to nothing this possibly be the feed for it! It has a 35amp fuse inside would this be the correct amp to power it?

Re: horn and washer bottle not working
I agree with bmc it should be only 5 amps
not sure if it needs to be via ignition, I have a washer pump connected via fuse to the perminate live, i.e next to the brown wire on the left of my fuse box

Re: horn and washer bottle not working
I,ll have a go tomorrow evening see if I can get any results. As for the horn I,ll have a check around when I take the steering wheel off,I took it of recently to put a new indicator stalk on but took the car out of the garage and noticed clicking when I turn the wheel I ain't no expert but I,m thinking possibly the indicator corrector or that's what I call it lol.
Re: horn and washer bottle not working
Well yes you do need to reset the indicator stalk to the lug on the column which trips the stalk back after turning.....

Re: horn and washer bottle not working
Feed to washer pump from terminal on fuel pump with in line fuse.
Change wiper switch for light switch.
Wire from washer pump to term 8 on new switch
Wire from wiper motor to term 1 on new switch
Wire from switch term 4 to earth
First click on switch operates wipers, second click operates wipers and washers
If washers suck instead of blow swap wires on pump terminals
Also works on pull-pull switch
