Removing lock barrel from boot handle

I am wanting to replace the lock barrel in the boot handle. I have removed the boot handle. How does the barrel come out? do you have to prize off the top hat shaped washer first?

I believe you have to file down the shaft to allow the 'top hat' washer to come out.

i can not recall filing anything down when I did mine a few years back..

i will take the one on my boot apart this weekend and make some notes for you, if you can wait that long..

I agree about having to file the shaft its burred over to hold the top hat washer.
