alternator

Post by stuupnorth »

Hi all
I'm having problems with the alternator conversion
removed the dynamo(which was charging the battery tested with volt meter)
replaced with Lucas alternator with wiring loom supplied from esm
now the alternator seems not to charge the battery (again checked with volt meter)
this is the regulator before removing wires

I have removed the yellow and green and taped up
I also removed both yellows and taped up the larger of the two and connected the smaller yellow to the ign light wire from the alternator loom
start car and the voltage doesn't increase also the ign light stays on ??
any ideas???

I have converted my traveller and assume the wiring diagram supplied was similar to that below, your colours look different.[frame]Image[/frame]

You do not indicate the connection to the soleniod, can you confirm the two brown wires are connected as below[frame]Image[/frame]

any more info you can provide will help others more knowledgeable than me to help with your problem

There's been a good few posts about useless alternators from this supplier.....yet they seem to keep sending them out without testing them. Your dynamo was working - put it back on and send the alternator back for a refund.

Just to say it was only the wiring loom which was bought from ESM
the alternator was supplied else where and was tested

Oh well - you have no come-back. Refit the dynamo - it works......
