Boot Luggage Rack

Post by Boomlander »

Hi All,
Does anyone have a boot luggage rack fitted to their Minor?
If so can you tell me how wide the rack frame is - I have one but it is obviously too wide for the car and I will need to reduce it to the correct proportions.
Thanks :D

Heya I have probly the same problem as you
But honestly I like the width of it haha still fits on the boot and fits the width of my moggy aswell

The first picture is where it would go if I made no modifications to it[frame]Image[/frame]

This one is where I shall be placing it ill be taking the old top two suction cups and cutting them up to make them into two rubber bungs with small slits so they sit nicely on the hinges :)[frame]Image[/frame]

Also didn't want to spend £10 for the brackets so making my own custom ones at college lining the folds with rubber to stop them chafing on the rack and boot :)

You are absolutely right, the rack looked to be too wide but having placed it on the boot lid it fits fine so I am now in the process of cleaning it up and varnishing the timber slats ready to clamp on. I will post a picture when completed.
Thanks for the help. :D :D

No problem haha I thought exactly the same until I seated it up to the car still thinking it just seemed to wide for my liking
Then after a while I was really liking the width ;) nice to be different ay

That is the same as my boot rack but I only fit it when necessary, I do not think that it suits the Series MM. It cost me £5 at an auction

It's just a personal preference thing, isn't it? Great that we can all do our own things in the classic world.... Concours to super modified....just enjoy it!
