after purchasing 3 front rubber surrounds from 3 different suppliers it is obvious that they do not fit because they all have a manufacturing defect, the lip on the outside is not deep enough and to flimsy to secure screens into frame.after several failed attempts i bought 3.5 metres of 1181 windscreen rubber from woolies in peterborough then cut and glued to size.this has a much larger lip than the ones purchased and secures to the frame much better.a plastic beading is supplied with the rubber, this can be glued to lip on rubber to look like original moulding which is no longer avaliable . it only took 3 hours to fit and the screens are now a tighter fit than before. hope this helps someone in future.

Re: splitscreen glass replacement
Hello Kevster,
I don't suppose you took any pictures of the rubber seal and what you did to make it fit (before, during & after ones)?
I have 3 splitties and 2 of them have leaky front screen rubbers which will need replacing.
You mention Woolies - is this a local resurrection of the defunct F.W. Woolworth & Co. Ltd., as past staff have done in Dorchester?
This company was known to sell most things under the sun and are quite missed.
Welcome to this forum, George.

Re: splitscreen glass replacement
Whilst not the best of fits, I found the Baines? rubber fitted not too badly apart from the aforementioned lip seal. Once the chrome surround is fitted it looks ok, and using the correct sealant ensures it doesn't leak.
