The search for the exhaust leek

Hello everyone
So I have a leek in my exhaust manifold
Does anyone have a method of finding this hole because I may try repair it if possible the whole seems to be under the rear branch but can't get my phone in there enough to take a good enough picture of the hole area on manifold

Try Round Up, it will kill almost any vegetation

Can only suggest running your hand along the pipe to feel for the blow. Better if someone stops the outlet with a rolled up rag.

I've had a few of these crop up over the years. In one case the exhaust wasn't quite right and needed trimming off a bit. Another time I was told it had been fitted with 'modern' sealant . Both sorted at the local garage for about £30 a time and never a prob since. Annoying though, minors make enough noise without an exhaust blowing.

Just solved mine, it's an (older) stainless system, but quite poorly made.
The flange on the exhaust for the clamp to grab was too slim, and made slightly off-centre if you see what I mean. I had to take the frontpipe off, and give the flange a tap with a soft mallet and an appropriately sized socket to open it out slightly. Now it fits fine at the clamp, but due to the flange being formed slightly off centre, as above, the exhaust now sits on the center crossmember. Duly spaced with some thick black plastic while I wait for an opportunity to take the exhaust off again, and bend into a more appropriate shape.
As BMC says, quite easy to find the source of blowing with your hand while revving the engine.

Hmm yeah I tried running my hand underneath and it is there but I can't seem to locate the hole or even weather it's the join possible haha

I was thinking of putting gum gum over the hole but I don't think it would hold dew to the pressure being the manifold :S

I think when I get round to doing it ill put some exhaust sealer on the join if that doesn't work ill find the hole

You're sure there's a hole, and it's not just the clamp?
The real remedy, if there is a hole, is to replace the defective section, though a temporary fix can be made with a coke can cut down the middle and two jubilee clips to secure, depending on the hole of course.

Well that's what I'm not 100% sure on I'm going to Maybe give the clamp ago and if it doesn't fix it ill take the manifold off whilst it will hopefully get the most welding done at college and see if they can do anything with the manifold lol
