Thankfully you've inherited a car with excellent spares availability...

The catch should have prevented the bonnet lifting up, but it was either set incorrectly or (more likely I guess) it was old & it snapped. ESM can provide a replacement catch and a new bonnet grab handle as well. Unfortunately being a weekend they may not be arrange delivery of the parts until Tuesday - call them on Saturday morning (01580 200203) to find out. Also ask ESM for the cheap rubber gaskets which fit under the hinges plus a copy of their free parts list.
I hope the dings can be knocked out easily - if the bonnet's not twisted then you've been really lucky. It's quite easy to source cheap replacement (second hand) bonnets but repainting one would cost a bit.
