Unfortunately after I returned home yesterday from a weekend away I found 'Primrose' had been had a go at. They smashed the front windscreen and the left hand door. Just want to say keep them girls tucked up and safe, you can't trust anyone! - I'm gutted, wish I could afford a garage!
Whereabouts are you located?
Your local branch may know of some spare glass.
As to the scum that did this, all criminals should spend their prison time as part of a chain gang, repairing our roads, 365 days a year, no remission. No TV or 5 star hotel prison service!
Best wishes,
Mike.
1954 Series 2: 4 door: "Sally" -- Back on the ground with (slave) wheels, now being sprayed by me, slowly......
1970 Triumph Herald 1200: "Hetty" -- Driven back from Llangollen in Wales (twice.....)
1952 Morris Minor MM highlight with sidevalve engine still fitted, wants work, so joins the queue for now......
Sadly even though no doubt the OP is grateful for the kind comments I can't see how replacement glass would help his situation except to temporarily keep the rain out..Long term it could so easily happen again.Have you explored all avenues to get it off the street? There may be some old lady or gent with an empty garage who may help for a small fee?Maybe knock on a few doors?
Mick
Thanks for all your comments - I have been in touch with a few people and they have been so kind and offered parts for free and also their services - Can't be happier with the response. I will keep you all posted about the status of the car but will be making track to find her a home outside of the elements - It just isn't doing the wood any good.
Saying that - I am thinking of putting her into a large to have the wood looked at (possibly change some pieces and have them treated) could anyone send me in the right direction for me to get this done - Preferably within a few hours of London.
Saw your post on FB - sorry your were a victim of scum that don't have neither the intelligence or motivation to do something with their lives. Out of interest, did you insurance have a glass excess - wouldn't this have been covered?
The Issigonis Kid - Richard Troup - Sheffield - 1961 Morris Minor Traveller ...... at last
For the price of the excess there may be no point in me claiming as the price of a new screen would be cheaper. I have also checked for CCTV with no luck. They also smashed another VW beetle that was parked not far from me...
Thanks for everyones help - It is times like this when you realise the support from fellow enthusiasts.
sorry to hear about your misfortune , they should be strung up by there short and curlys when or if found , good luck with the repairs , look forward to seeing her back to undamaged soon ,
What an awful thing to happen. For some reason I assumed people wouldn't touch classic cars, especially Moggies. Its not like you're tooling around in a Lambo or something.
I expect it's, as above, a combination of mindless thuggism and jealousy.............
I'd have them flogged through the streets!! (The old ways are the best!)
