series 2 and later wings

Post by FrankM83 »

What were the differences apart from the obvious missing side lamp and wider opening for the front panel on early series 2 cars? as the bodyshop wants me to get late 1000 wings to put on my sries 2 van and he'll modify the front bit! my original series 2 wings have already been rust repaired once so he doesn't want to patch these up again!

The M1000 front wings will fit perfectly well, the inside edge tucks behind the grill panel on the early SII, and are the same as the M1000 on the late SII

On Steveys car we altered an old 1000 wing to fit the cheese grater grill, welded up the side light and cut off the edge at the bottom. To get the spacing right for the hockey stick we lined it all up and drilled holes in the correct place before cutting away the excess. Heres a link to the resto, page 11 shows the wings. Im sure he has more pictures of the alterations.
