Voltage Reguletor of MM 1000 with Dynamo

Hi can u tell me what is the battery voltage the reguletor stoping charging and starting charging - BZ my battery volte 12.20 but not show charging -the moving cut out- not move and amper meter stay in ' 0 ' - dynamor is fine - then i on head light and look - not show charging amper meter go left and stay here if speed the engin not move to right the meter it was left at the head light on also - then i change reguletor box and chack - not chenge any not show charging - i am sure not broblem of dynamo i check it useing two wires of dynamo- i remove them from control box and joint them together and short it car body it is fine work -

Hi Sandun, I was just thinking you have been quiet for a while - and Happy New Year !!
To test the dynamo - take the wires off and fix a new wire to both terminals on the dynamo. Now start the engine and run it at a fast idle speed. Now connect that wire to the battery terminal - what voltage do you get now ? It should rise to 13.8/14.2 volts after a few minutes. Now switch on the headlights - are the volts still ~ 13.8 ??? Disconnect the wire from the battery before stopping the engine. If the volts are not as above, then the problem IS at the dynamo. Report back please!!

Same to you -my dear friend Mr.Roy- the 2 new wires from dynamo joint together and joint it battery + terminal ? - i check useing new 2 wires from dynamo and joint them together short with Earth - car body- it has good current sparking

Try it my way Sandun so we can see the volts - not just 'sparking'

I chek like this - the two wires of dynamo joint them together and set it multimeter + and negative of multimeter to car body then start and speed engin it was 40 - 50 v

It's probably ok - but please connect the wires to the battery so we can see how the battery tales the charge...

Yes - it's PROBABLY ok - but please do the test with wire connected to the battery so we can see the battery volts !!

Get an alternator and electronic ignition and forget about it?

yes i test it Mr Roy - the battary was 12.20v befor test - when i check it varry soon about 15 second battery was 13.2 v - at the head light on it was 12.70v battery voltege -Note the battery full charge reat 12.7 - 13.2 when it charge remove from car -

Hmm - well -either your voltmeter reads low, or the battery is in poor condition - maybe the acid Specific Gravity is low?? Anyway - the dynamo IS WORKING ! Well done. So now - you need to check all the wiring to the Regulator box - and set it up as detailed in the Workshop Manual. If you don't have it - search for it 'free' on Google !

i cant see - why the contact not move ? - the ignition light some time go off when speed engine some time it bright when speed engine both of time not contact move and not amper meterwork it stay in '' O '' check wires A1 igniation swich -A battery -F dynamo -D dynamo and igniation light - E earth and hood light - problem of some seting of control box ? How to test control box fine work and contact move or not -

Sandun - it's difficult to explain here - and it is all listed very well in the Workshop Manual - have you found a 'free' download on Google ??? Can you also charge up the battery for 24 hours - and then measure the Specific gravity of each cell? It should be 1.275 on a fully charged battery. If the battery is not good, it will be difficult to adjust the Regulator correctly.

Hi Mr. Roy - i found the problem of voltege Reguletor - it was the cut out Shunt windings it was not magnet - how to check Shunt windings of cut out - Remove all wirers from control box - get two wires and joind them 12 v about 15Am battery then the negative wire joind terminal '' E '' the + wire short with matal fram - if the coil good the cut - out move - SO i have to change control box bZ my old cut- out not work - thanks

Did you not say you have two regulators? They are usually very reliable - unless there has been some accidental damage ? I still think you have a battery problem - maybe just low specific gravity - or maybe a dead cell.

I have to by a control box to chck my old one -then i look what is the diffarance of them - if the battary low , can not stop the contact moveing of cut - out - Bz low battary voltege not going to stop charging system

Can you get a control box locally? It may be less expensive to pick up an alternator from a scrap car?

Yes locally - recondition one - it was Rs 1800 about 7 pounds with two New point set- reguletor side and cut- out side - i have to set them myself [frame][/frame]

Good! As long as the wires are all connected right way. Can you check your voltmeter/multimeter on another car - to check if it's reading correctly - before you try to set the Regulator bobbins?

Bobbin ? Why check multimiter ? For low readings - i think it is not low reading ? I think the battery is low voltege it was drain
