On a moment I saw a metal cover on a left shock absorber from a MM, looked at more pictures, and only found them on the cars with sidevalve engines.
Does someone has a drawing from it, or is it possible to find also as spare part on newer types?
At my car he is not there......[frame][/frame]

They were only fitted to the sidevalve cars and I am sure that I have a spare one somewhere, just not sure quite where!
I will have a look and let you know
No sign of one on my car, probably disappeared many years ago.
So, how about a picture please from someone who does have one???
anticipating your help, as ever

G'day Tvd
The shield pictured is an original probably 22 or maybe thiner gauge steel painted black. If your car is not concourse I would suggest making it from light gauge stainless steel and don't paint it. Reason being the shiny surface of the stainless will reflect a lot of the heat from the manifold and not absorb so much because of it not being black. Also because stainless is a relatively poor conductor of heat less heat will get to the shock absorber and its mounting bolts.
Thank you,
Stainless steel is not a big problem in our company, we have standard 2 mm sheets on stock ;)
Standard steel is also usable, I can paint it in the engine coating when needed.
Bob in Oz, thanks for the photos, will now visit an ex-colleague running a water jet cutting company and see if he has a small piece of stainless, he might even cut the shield for me? Maybe they didn't rust as quickly in Oz as in UK, hence still having one.

To make him with a water jet cutter, you need a DXF ;)
And when you have this DXF, I like to have a copy, because my contacts with waterjet and laser cutters are also there.
Hi guys
Some extra info. Mine measured 0.036" thick - 20 SWG. The main part with the curved end is 156 X 57, and the smaller mounting section 58 X 28.
Cheers Bob
