Dear All,
I am to fit a Shorrock to my fully rebuilt 948cc A-Series engine on my Morris Minor Saloon car which has undergone a full nut and bolt restoration. The car has been sensibly upgraded during the restoration, including disc brakes, servo, SPAX shocks (Front & Rear), Anti-roll bar, Electric fan, Oil and Temp gauges and electronic ignition. I am enquiring if anyone out there has a Shorrock fitted and / or experience with a Shorrock Supercharger? I have gathered all information I can find from the internet and now keen to hear from you to learn from your experience and assist with any recommended set up, SU carburettor jet and needle arrangements etc before fitting to my car.
The fully rebuilt engine is std with +30 thou cast pistons apart from duplex timing chain and NOS Terry's double valve springs and converted to unleaded. I am running with Comma 20W50 Classic Car oil in the engine and Comma fluid in the cooling system. The spark plugs are NGK (equivalent to Champion N5 - may need tweeking to a cooler unit when up and running, but understand these a good starting point).
The unit I have was fitted to a AH Mk1 Frogeye, therefore has the longer induction pipe between the Carb and the intake to the Supercharger. I understand the Morris Minor version was shorter and more like an 90.Deg elbow type pipe, but understand this makes no difference to how the unit will function? The unit and Carb has been fully dismantled, checked for tolerance and put back together. I have had fabricated a new oil pipe to the same spec as the original.
I am also looking for an original boost gauge if you have one for sale to complete my set up.
Many thanks in advance.
Simon

What cr is your engine? That needs to be a consideration, it shouldn't be too high, also I think you will find there is a special 'running in' jet available for the supercharger, useful if you've rebuilt it, I think it controls the oil flow to the unit.

Possibly need a de-compression plate and a crankshaft damper.

And an oil cooler...... What size carb is attached to the Scharger? Have the valve sizes been increased in the head? Have you changed the camshaft ? You will benefit from a free-flow/larger bore exhaust system. You didn't need stronger valve springs - supercharging is about torque - not high revs !
