Yea I should have recorded it as well . It would seem that there is more supposedly hilarity than any thing else . has anyone seen them with a spanner in their hands except for a hammer which they were using to rip the wood from an existing traveller, hardly professional let alone amateur workmanship . still all done in a TV 3 week time scale well done . excellent looking job . just don't depend on learning any thing from this show

Well spotted. Enjoyable enough as TV goes with the normal imaginary deadlines and problems; but at least they got most of the facts right. Just a shame that they decided to cut the wood rather than remake the metal wheel arch. What I'd really like to know, is: the name of the cowboy that bodged it in the first place.

Yes, a third of the way in and they were still just sitting on the car. Best bit was that it was a good advert for taking on the refurb of a Minor. Showing the availability of parts was a big plus as that is what people ask me mainly, can you still get the parts?
ESM, lovely, all those spare parts. . If I didn't have a Minor it would have made me go and get one.

Not an expert, so would like to see opinions as to the wisdom of "adjusting" the woodwork to fit the poor welding...?

Other than seemingly sensible modernising upgrades to electrics and brakes, did notice one "slip" in relation to authenticity... Standard steering wheel for year, which appeared to be perfectly servicable, appeared to be replaced with a wire-spoked version as found on earlier models... Front bumper over-riders were added that weren't apparent in photographs of the car when first purchased...

No one in their right mind would ignore a wrongly positioned piece of bodywork and alter a perfectly good part, ie the timber, in an attempt to overcome the problem. Two wrongs probably make a right in their world. ----how many biscuits can someone shove in their gob at once?

It's an old repeat anyway, was on at least 6 months ago. Reading this thread I remember the wood bodge to suit the body. Didn't watch it this time but I remember the Story was something about a lad who had got ripped off with a training company or apprenticeship. if that's not the one then I'm talking rubbish but I bet it is unless there are 2 versions with wood being ruined to fit a badly fixed body.

Not very good,if fact about useless,gave the impression,to anyone who wasn't in the know, just swap the drums for discs and away you go,not mentioning finding or making up new legs,fitting servo and modding the master cylinder.

whether the programme was good or bad..anyone watching who was dithering about buying a classic car or not,would have seen that there are plenty of spares readily available for Moggys,lots of knowledge about them,and freindly owners!

I do have a lot of respect for Fuzz Townsend, the man knows his onions, but is clearly governed by the imposed time restraint put in place by the television production company behind the show. I prefer 'Wheeler Dealers' on Discovery though, because that Tim Shaw is rather annoying on S.O.S. Edd China is another mechanic that knows his stuff and likes to do things properly, but like any mechanic he can and does get things wrong. On one episode of 'Wheeler Dealers' they bought a 1958 2CV AZ from the South of France and restored it. During the show Edd states that the later models are fitted with struts for their suspension. Not true. Early cars had friction and inertia dampers fitted, while later 1970's-on cars had telescopic oil filled dampers fitted. He also stated that to dip the headlamps you turn a knob that's connected to the headlamps. Again, not true. There's a perfectly good and usable switch on the steering column. The knob is there to alter the angle of the headlamp and stop them from dazzling if the rear of the car is loaded with extra weight. So they can end up misleading folk who haven't had any experience of a given make/model, but still good programmes to watch.

Pity they resprayed it in rose taupe instead of the original peat brown. As it is still peat brown around the engine bay, I wonder did they paint it rose taupe by mistake!!
