I clearly said TOWN - where you are nose to tail with other cars, stopping and starting, sitting at lights and so on.... - all in well lit streets... It's surely common courtesy to NOT shine your headlights in the car in front's rear view mirror !!!!!!! (or your brake lights in the eyes of the driver behind ). I had no idea standards of courtesy had fallen so low..... I agree - in a village / streets with no lighting you obviously do need the headlights. Indeed I am one of the first to put mine on in poor light conditions - at any time of day. But off they go when I catch up with another vehicle.

Corretly adjusted dip beams will not dazzle the driver in front, especially if nose to tail, and what about cyclists and pedestrians who do not see your side lights as they are expecting to see headlights?

Maybe battery life is more important than human life to some these days....
