Since a week I am owner of a black moggie 1000 from 1956. Original Netherlands made ckd vehicle. I am 3rd owner. So the car is black but has a metallic silver grillesurround. (With a ver very slightly schade of green in it). I have been gold that this should be original colour for that surround for that early Minor 1000. As Corgi has brought out a maroon Minor 1000 in 1/43 scale that has a silver surround I think this might be right paint scheme for the real car. But does anyone out there know this? Please do inform this member from The Netherlands. Thanks and greetings so far!

Not quite sure I've understood, but I believe: the horizontal bars of the grille should be Old English White, surrounded by a stainless trim, then a steel surround in body colour then the chrome 'hockey sticks' + horizontal trim. This would be the same for all 1000's?

On a black UK built early 1000, the grill and wheels would have been painted in birch grey, I cant say for sure that the same colour scheme was used in the Netherlands as there was differences in the finishes of CKD built cars. In Ireland they were always built with body coloured wheels and grills and the paint colours were slighly different along with the interoirs as they were locally made to support local factorys and reduce import taxes.
Too many Minors so little time.....

I stand corrected, don't know my early Moggies well enough yet! (should have looked on the Potteries site for paint references).

Thanks for your responses John and David!
I understand that the slatted grille may have been painted in birch grey. In this case it is the grilleSURROUND that is painted silverish grey. Do you know of other early 1000 models in such a coulour scheme?

The surround should be in body colour (as in my Smoke Grey Traveller above).

From a dutch Morris Minor owner who knows a lot of CKD Minors assembled in The Netherlands I heard he also is convinced the surround should be in bodycolour. So now I think I will respray this black.
Thanks to you again!
