How easy to remove Traveller rear aluminium panels

Post by TRTerry »

Hi,

I am trying to refinish my wood and have been using Acetone to strip the acrylic finish off. But I am horrified to see that the Acetone is also softening the paintwork and my wood stripping is causing abrasion to the softened painted aluminium panels. Are these easy to remove? Or is this a job that requires the entire wood frame to be removed off the chassis for access? The panels will also need to be painted but I was hoping just to mask the wood off when I get to that stage.

Thanks

Terry

To get to the bottom set of screws, you need the side off the car. I have seen it done where all the accessible screws are removed, and then the panel is levered/ripped off the bottom ones. Not good if you want to refit them - even if you did succeed, the panel would be loose at the bottom, and let in water.
