Hi guys
I have been told that my minor is Frilford Grey?
I have just got a touch up paint from 'paints 4 u'
who i have used before so trust them but the touch up paint is darker than cars paint
which one of the other greys could it be
ps the car is a 1960 2dr saloon
here's one inside
and another outside
any ideas?
Stu
Hi,
It could be Smoke Grey or Yukon Grey?? I've attached a link to Potteries site, as there should be an identifying letter on the chassis plate, if it's still in it's original colour (Is the engine bay in the same shade? It's sometimes missed out during resprays.). See their charts.
It looks good whatever the shade.
Best wishes,
Mike.

1954 Series 2: 4 door: "Sally" -- Back on the ground with (slave) wheels, now being sprayed by me, slowly......
1970 Triumph Herald 1200: "Hetty" -- Driven back from Llangollen in Wales (twice.....)
1952 Morris Minor MM highlight with sidevalve engine still fitted, wants work, so joins the queue for now......
It's definitely not Yukon Grey, it's too light, how long ago was the car painted? It could be that the paint has faded over time. I had the same problem recently.

Opinions are like people, everyone can be different.
Looks a very similar colour to my clarendon grey '59.Best thing is to take the car to the paint supplier. The good ones will mix up the basic colour then alter that to match yours by dipping swatches in the mix adding tinters.[frame][/frame]
thanks for the replies
i had a look on the potteries side
i think it could be Clarendon Grey
i'll try and get to a paint shop and check their charts
ps the convertible looks stunning!!
also i thought the post 1960 chassis plate didn't show the paint code?
I was going to say Clarendon - based on my memories of my 58 rally Minor....although that picture has a slightly 'blue' haze to it - that could just be the ambient light/blue sky on the day.
I would say that your car looks more like Frilford Grey than any other Minor colour although it looks slightly different in each picture!
The original colour is not recorded on these cars anywhere unfortunately but Frilford Grey would be correct for a 1959/60 Minor.
Either the paint used in a previous respray or the paint you've just had mixed is probably a bit off-colour.
Couldn't resist giving your Minor and its Art Deco backdrop a period feel..............
