Just fitted one myself and wondered what the springs were for as well. Left them off and one fitting is now a bit loose. Maybe they go on under the clip head to keep some tension on it? The fiitings I used looked the same as Kenlowe ones but they didn't have the springs so that is why I left them out.
You'd think they'd provide fitting instructions really.

The only instruction provided was to have the fan installed by "A qualified Auto Electrician".
That would at least double the cost of the fan.......I think I can manage to connect two wires and thread four zip ties through the rad matrix! I will leave the springs out and just fit the cushion pads.

what size fan did you get? My son works for a comany that sells these and there's a choice of 9 inch 12 inch and up.

it looks like a Revotec kit. I fitted one to our Minor 2 years ago. Fitting it took me 4 hours but it was worth it. I've got it wired to a permanent live so that it can cut in after the engine has been switched off.
