Engine
Can anyone help identify an engine I have in my shed ,it doesn't have the 1100 plate on it but came out of an 1100 moggie, also the tag from the cyl block is missing only thing I can see is numbers cast in the block just above the sump on the manifold side can anyone explain the code Thanks in anticipation. CD.

Does it say 950?

Hi Mark thanks for that I cant see any reference to engine size in the casting ,bit I will dig it out (it's buried) and double check CD.

Why not post the numbers you can see? It might well give enough information to provide an answer.

Check if the head is a 12 G 202... But if it does NOT say '950' (and you know it's not an 803) then it IS a 1098....

Thanks for all help in the end I took of rocker cover and showed it was a 2020 head so its a948. cheers

A 948 engine should have 950 cast in the block below the front tappet chest, the back plate is thinner than the 1098 plate and e an
[sig]3580[/sig]

Oh dear NO -a 12 G 202 head is a 1098 head! It 'may' have been fitted to a 948 engine - but unlikely. Your engine is almost certainly a 1098........
