Interior Lighting

Post by Callum97 »

My 1968 2dr currently has zero lighting inside. Should it have an interior light, like this:

Should there be a speedo light? I read something about the little square switch being for this, but no light turns on with it in either position. Likely just to need a new bulb?

Also, how does the heater work, assuming it does work?

Cheers, Callum

Have a look at the old bulb first and test it across the battery, if the bulb is blackened then it probably needs renewing, or it could be that the door switches are a bit sticky.
You are correct about the little square switch under the dash, it turns the speedo lights off if you just want parking lights, sounds like you need to check the wiring to it.
Do all the lights and horn work OK? if not check the fuse.

The heater is operated by a push/pull knob under the dash (push to open the valve on the engine) , you can just see part of it on the right of the picture, the toggle switch under the heater switches the fan on, I think you can just see the positions of screen, car and off on the flap control on the heater box.

So should my 67 built 2dr have an interior light as linked in the original post?

Has it not even got a hole in the headlining where it was fitted or the switches in the door pillars?

Got holes in the pillars, no hole in the headlining as the previous owner replaced it

The horn is on a different fuse. The side lights are on an in line fuse
