rocker cover question

Post by andrew.searston »

hello
just bought myself a shiny new rocker cover (chromed metal). only issue i have is i forgot about the breather tube on the top!
any idea for drilling and adding a tube to the new cover without welding or ruining the chrome.
car has a oil bath air filter so would need the breather pipe.
thanks
andy

The Vanden Plas Princess 1300 'A' series had a chrome rocker cover as standard and NO breather coming out of the top of the rocker cover either. :D
Perhaps Andrew is giving his Minor a Vanden Plas makeover.
You never know it might end up with a Rolls Royce engine and it would become a Minor Princess 'R' - re BMC Princess 4 ltr 'R' 8)

Might be worth converting to the 'canister' type breather system as used on the late 1098s?

I strongly recommend a rocker breather - cans or no cans.... Unless a PCV is fitted - that works well with can system.

drill a hole in the top 9there should be a round spot cast into the cover for this). then tap out a hole 1/4" bsp. purchase a 1/4" x 6mm hose tail from ebay and connect up your hose. Have done this on mine and it looks the business with my chromed engine block!
