Fuel filters

Post by patrickhowell »

I have searched for a fuel filter in my 1971 Traveller, but can't find one. If they were never fitted, can someone recommend the right type to fit, and where to fit it? Any known problems, like fuel flow restriction? Thanks

Your SU pump has one.

Also there is one on the petrol pick up tube in the tank.
Some very fine silt can get through but SU carbs are very tolerant of it. Every 50 or 60 years you may want to wash it out of the carb, not forgetting the tube to the jet.

Why do you want a filter? And yes - fuel flow restriction is not unknown... The SU carb copes very well with any normal 'dirt' coming through the system - don't worry about it !
