It is indeed a 1275 head - and yes it has at least the 'large' inlet valve fitted. However it hasn't been significantly skimmed, nor have the chambers been significantly modified. Hard to advise a value - but I wouldn't let it go (if it was mine) for less than ~ £60... nor would I pay more than £100 to buy it... The type marks don't make any sense to me at the moment .. they may refer to an engine rebuild, rather than to specific modifications to the head.
The valves wouldn't be a problem but I'm not sure about going on an A+ block as I'm sure they have more head studs. Unless the extra ones can be removed, or extra stud holes drilled in the head.
If you want to fit the two extra studs to a 1275cc engine you can do so without any great difficulty.
The head has two internal cast bosses that can be drilled through and the block will accept the two extra studs.
Both the 940 head and the 1275cc 'A' plus block on my engine have been converted to 11 studs.
But note that MG/Rover didn't find this to be necessary on the Turbo engine. However it is a very common modification on engines delivering in excess of 100 bhp.
Indeed... in fact the only extra fittings are on the Cooper S models - where one extra stud was fitted at the heater valve end of the head - and an additional long bolt was fitted at the thermostat end. This is smaller in diameter and only to be torqued to 25 ft lbf.... The common mod now is of course to fit two extra studs - full diameter and full torque.
