no beep!
Sorted out the electrics on BOM today - or so I though - go through them
all blah blah....cargo light....all good EXCEPT the horn!
Took it off, cleaned, re-fitted,plugged it in again and STILL nothing - is the
horn faulty?
Any idea's?

Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Re: no beep!
On the fuse box there are two lilac wires, one goes to the horn the other goes to the interior light. You say the interior light works, so assume the fuse is OK. Check for 12v on the lilac wire at the horn, this will confirm you are getting power at the horn.
You will then need to check the earth from the horn button, this is a lilac/black wire at the horn. On my traveller there is a connection in the drivers glove box going to the indicator switch wiring that includes the horn, check you are getting earth when you push the horn button at that connection.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, promise to stop kicking the neighbours' cat when it's sorted.
The neighbour himself was wearing a lime green sweater and beige cropped trousers....my foot was like a coiled spring - along with the contents of my stomach!!
Thanks again

Re: no beep!
My horn wasn't working after my car had sat for 20 years. You don't say whether it worked on not when you connected it directly to the battery?
The horn (if original) is a Lucas 9H. It has a set of points inside and a diaphragm but unfortunately the horn is riveted together so it isn't possible to get inside without ruining it. However, you can make some adjustments from outside. My horn worked again after some fiddling with adjustments.

The screws may be seized but WD40 should loosen them.

Re: no beep!
Alternatively, if you have no luck with your Lucas 9H you could fit one of these for amusement value (legal in a car car first registered before 1st August 1973).

Re: no beep!
All sorted now thanks.....
Gave it an ultimatum, either work or it'll be an hour of the Nolan's.
It finally croaked into life after the 2nd verse of "I'm in the mood for dancing"!
