Rubber seal for the boot
The car came with one to fit, and Im putting it around the boot but it never stays in place. I assume it doesn't go around the boot lid but the boot sill? Any tips? Do they sell anything to keep the rubber seal in place? Any pics showing it in place. Its a 56 split screen if that makes any difference.

Re: Rubber seal for the boot
They had 2 types of seal fitted, later cars perhaps after about 1960ish had a bigger seal stuck onto the boot lid,

older cars had one that fitted over the lip on the body.

Ive found the stick on one less effective, I think the new rubber is a bit too hard and doesnt allow the body to dig into the seal enough making the lid sit up a bit and letting more water in. I use the older seal on all my cars and it would be the right one for your series 11 anyway!

Re: Rubber seal for the boot
I thought Id read there were two sorts. The one that I have fits half way round the body and then keeps popping off. Plus the boot doesnt seem to want to shut when its on... so maybe its just a crappy one (he said he couldn't make it fit either). So I will order one of the older versions for the boot body and have another go. Thanks for advice.

Re: Rubber seal for the boot
I put one of the stick-inside -the-boot-lid ones in my (1968/9) but it is still letting water in though there are signs that it is making contact all the way round and it was quite soft. If you get one that is highly effective (and it is forcasting rain this weekend I see) perhaps you could let us know what you got and where from. Ta

Re: Rubber seal for the boot
Wont be doing it for a while as lots on over the next week - but will post a pic of any successful attempt. As I mentioned.. the one that came with the car didn't work for me or the chap who used to own the car so not sure if its the wrong sort.
Re: Rubber seal for the boot
Ive attached the rubber seal that came with the a load of other bits with the car but I can't for the life of me get the boot to shut when its on.
Is it the wrong type of seal.. or could it just be that its not soft enough? Feels Ok.... but Im no expert![frame]

Re: Rubber seal for the boot
I have the early seal which attaches to the boot opening, however I have had to cut the bottom section off in order to close the boot lid.
