Hello from Newbie

Post by alanhollybush »

First post from me just to say Hello!
Bought my '63 2 door Saloon about six weeks ago and still getting to know her.
I bought her locally on impulse as she made me smile - the engineering is just great and free of mystery unlike a modern car.
She's a dual personality in Smoke Grey with 1098cc engine and 'clap hands' wipers.
I've tidied up a few bits already including fitting new halogens, new indicator switch, new webbing & foam to front seats, replaced badly cracked banjo steering wheel, new pedal rubbers, etc.
I would like to add some indicators as she has the old flashing sidelight/brakelight setup so off the electrical forum to request help!
    Cheers

Welcome Alan, you will find all you need to know here and more besides, your car among other things falls in to the "duotone" seat cover period, look them up at any Morris dealers website, they look terrific when fitted.
Post some photos and reveal your rough location when you get chance.
P.S. get some security fitted, disclock, etched windows and/or secret switch, a Moggie is a very desirable little animal to certain elements.
    Regards Dick.

Hi Dick, thanks for the welcome.
You are right the duo-tone looks the part and fortunately mine are in good condition for 50 years old.
I bought and fitted the replacement foam pads and pirelli style webbing as the front seat upholstery was completely shot.
The foam is not a good fit on the duo-tone seat and I had to modify it to fill out the front section.
Perhaps, if any are listening, the suppliers should re-think their spec/design.
