Indicator based electrical issues!

Afternoon all, Edd again!

Concentrating on wiring today, got tail lights, headlights and sidelights all functioning, but no indicators, now there's a few issues here.

I'll start with the basic, I've taken the indicator stalk off the steering column and I can't remember exactly where it goes really stupid I know, but if I put it in the wrong place the horn goes peep when the little contact touches it, I don't suppose any one has a picture of where on the column it should go?

I thought I'd start there and work out wards...

Got the indicators going, few wires in the wrong place and leads to flasher unit back to front, not sure how to test the horn though, can it only be done with the button with the steering wheel on? I need a new button as mine has smashed up!

Just connect the metal pip on the end of the steering column and the column together, that's all the horn button does.

As long as the spring contact is making contact with the slip ring on the column then all should be good.

If you have little square headed self cancelling stud on the column then that has to line up with the fingers on the switch that protrude when you move it to switch the signal on, if you want the indicators to cancel, mine do sometimes.

Don't leave the cap off the brake master cylinder (see photo), you will get crud in it

Your indicator switch assembly is alomsr right but needs to be maybe 10mm nearer the steering wheel. Theres a stud and locknut on the column just below the slip ring. This is used for self cancelling of the indicators. A bit of trial and error with the indicators on and turning the steering will help you find the right position.
