Series 2 question

Post by LouiseM »

Does anyone know the date that the last of the 'cheesegrater' grill cars were built? I've checked Ray Newell's book and although it states that the 'facelift' model was introduced in October 1954 there is no exact date or reference to the last production model with cheesegrater.

Thanks,

Louise

Skilleter's book says the facelift in October 1954 commenced at the following car numbers - 291140 for the two-door, 290173 four-door, 291336 Tourer and 289687 Traveller.

I've read Skilleter's book too. Just curious as to the actual date of the change as haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

I think the actual month of the change is pretty good for those days especially as some will have been with dealers for a while after the changover date, thats why chassis numbers are more useful.
