gearbox color

Post by TvdWerf »

What is the original color for the gearbox, when a green sidevalve engine is mounted?
Also the same green color, or a grey one?[frame]Image[/frame]
The gearbox who I got together with the car is clean, no paint anymore on it...
The other one is on the picture.

Hi there TvdWerf?

I believe all the MM sidevalve engines and some early Series II (BRITMO 803cc) cars are fitted with 'blue' coloured engines. The exception being gold or silver for reconditioned units. And as far as I know the MM gearboxes were all the same colour 'blue' with recon units being gold or silver.

If I am not correct someone will be along shortly to put you right.
