Blotches

Post by warb21 »

Anyone shed light on these 'blotches' which have appeared on the roof? Car is a Rose Taupe Traveller. The roof is still smooth to touch e.g. if I close my eyes and run my hand over it, I can't obviously feel anything - so they seem to be under the surface somehow. Only other thing to disclose is the car has just spent 4 weeks on a driveway under a Stormforce cover.[frame]Image[/frame]

Either the cover has been chaffing -or somehow pools of water have formed on the cover - and the sun has been concentrated by the 'lens' effect of the pools of water.... Pretty unlikely I suspect - more likely to be the chaffing...

Thanks. Either could be possible. The position of the blotches is consistent with where a small bit of direct sunlight shines down in the mornings and I know from your other posts that there's an issue with UV and those covers. Given the problem has occurred in the last few weeks, it could be a combo of heavy rain followed by hot sun.
So next step is what to do about it - prevention of more blotches can be taken care of, but how can the existing ones be got rid of.. if at all?

Try some t cut and elbow grease and see how it comes up. I have a green saloon with very old paint and if left in strong sunlight the water droplets leave marks on the paint which need polished out. Ive tried all sorts of polishes to try and stop this, currently using meguiars which seems a little better.

I use Mr Sheen - works very well! Although my cover 'disintegrated' in the sun - I never had any other problems - like these horrible marks !! What paint is it - 2K or celly -or something else...
