Leaf spring bushes
Hi Having changed my front bushes to poly on my traveller i now want to do the back, has anyone got any advice on the best way to jack the car up but still be able to release the bushes.haven't tackled these before so any help would be great. Many thanks for all the advice on the front it was invaluable.
Re: Leaf spring bushes
Using a good quality trolly jack, use the axle to raise the car. I then use ramps (they have a wider surface area than stands) positioned just forward of the front spring hangers, and at right angles to the body. On top of the flat part of the ramps I lay stout timber that to spread the load over a wide are of sills before gently lowering the car onto said timber. This gives a really secure car on which one can then work.

Great many thanks for the help will have ago at the weekend.
Re: Leaf spring bushes
If the rear bumper irons are good and solid -you can put a stout timber across and jack there. Reduce the car weight as much as possible - empty the boot and remove the spare wheel..... And put axle stands in front of the front spring mounts - with timber spreader board as suggested earlier.

Be interested to know how it goes, its a job on the horizon for me, they are not totally shot yet but well on their way.
Heaven knows why they were not changed when the car was rebuilt, the bolts / nuts are new.
Does the exhaust get in the way when laying a plank across the car underneath ?.
