Hi Guys,
I have a Riley which may need some chassis work but not sure to what extent right now but im assuming both legs may need to replacing.
I live near Basingstoke and wonder if there is someone out there who can have alook and possibly do the work?
Thanks
Topher

Re: Chassis Leg Work
Ive been on the phone to charles ware and they seem very professional and upfront about their work.
They seem the best option right now has anyone had experience of chassis repairs by Charles Ware?
Thanks
Chris

only those with cash in abundance would use CW as they are expensive for parts, however Richard in the parts department is always happy to give advise.

You should read back the search facility for previous 'discussions' about the standard of chassis work from CW. And - did I miss that you had recently won the Lottery?

Re: Chassis Leg Work
Slight thread hijack if you don't mind, but I was about to post another chassis leg query. I'm not quite at chassis leg stage yet, and very much hope I don't need to replace either of them. Last night, however, I was looking down the inside of the nearside leg from the gearbox cover end, as you do, and could see quite a bit of flaky rust north of the eyebolt tube. Externally a limited amount of hammer tapping didn't show any problem. How would I go about cleaning and protecting this area? I'm probably going to have the shell bead (or whatever) blasted - would this get into the front end of the legs? And out again?

No - it won't. Wire brush on a stick?? If you are going to the trouble of bead blasting the chassis - I think it would be well worthwhile fitting two complete new legs first - otherwise they are bound to let you down in a year or two - even if you flood them with waxoyl....

Re: Chassis Leg Work
B*gger. At my current rate of progress that's another six months. And I took so much trouble preserving the chassis leg tabs when I changed the cross member.......... Won't be much point bead blasting, there won't be any old metal left
Thanks anyway.
