ello can anyone tell me if a bootlid from a 69 car is the same as the one on my 55 car, ive been told one rubber sits on body ,one glued to lid, theres one on ebay in my home town ill get if its the same, cheers steve
There are a few differences:
firstly: bootlid badge holes (69 has a bunch of little holes - I think the 55 has 2 bolt holes )
Secondly: boot stay (69 has a bracket for the automatic bootlid stay which has a different fitting on the bootlid than the 55's metal rod)
Thirdly: bootlid seal (on the 69 it is glued to the inside of the lid - on the 55 it is on the lip on the car). This is interchangeab;e but it may be a bit of work to clean the glue from the old seal (or just keep the seal as per the 69 lid)
However these are ony small differences and as far as I'm aware the rest of the lid is the same so can be interchangeable if you really want to.

STEVE, I tried to fit the later sponge seal on my 1957 car and it
was impossible to close the boot lid!. I reverted to the thin rubber
seal which fits to the actual body and it is fine and does not leak.
