Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!
Re: This seller needs help sorting out a problem!
Comes up on DVLA as a 1959, yet clearly has post 1962 features such as the 1098cc engine, heater, wipers, front indicators, etc.
Strange also, that it appears to be in overall good condition apart from the front roof!

What about the seats and trim? but they do look nice.
Re: This seller needs help sorting out a problem!
It is NOT a 1959 shell... Nice it may be (in a way) - but it is not what it pretends to be...

Never mind if it's a tidy car and the price is right

Re: This seller needs help sorting out a problem!
Interestingly, if you zoom in on the first pic, the back window is clearly etched with a suffixed (F-reg?) number-plate that doesn't match the car's!

Looks to me like the door is from OMO 503F, but maybe 505 or 508? Both rear door windows are etched, but no others on the car appear to be.Chipper wrote:Interestingly, if you zoom in on the first pic, the back window is clearly etched with a suffixed (F-reg?) number-plate that doesn't match the car's!
Certainly looks like a later car, as previously commented. Wiper position, later heater, dash panel, sidelights all later than 1959. It must be difficult to change the wiper spindle positions or the full dash assembly without a lot of work.

Insurance wouldn't pay out if it was involved in an accident and found to be
a duffer - bad enough when they mistake body numbers for chassis numbers!
I'm sure this was the '59 ,Traveller on eBay some time ago, vendor on the MMOC
advising some relation had a collection of 15 - some comment on here at the time
about it being a plumb duff.
Gawd knows!
