Period competition seat options

Post by cjthorley »

Hi Guys,

I just had my light competition Riley 1.5 (same floor pan as morris minor) checked out by scrutineers and seems the original front seats dont comply with MSA rules due to the lack of head support.

My riley is being prepared with period look and feel in mind so im not keen on fitting one of those high backed modern race seats.

I wonder you well connected lot have some suggestions for period looking seats available on the market? Im sure morris minor seats would have same or similar fittings?

Thanks alot guys

Were you having an initial examination by a MSA scrutineer to get your car log booked?
Read what it says about seats in the MSA Blue Book as regards your chosen type of motorsport. Your options may be severely limited.
The Minor seat securing points do not comply with the MSA requirements. The seat has to be securely bolted to the floor and must not be able to tip. Again see Blue Book.
Did the scrutineer not give you any pointers?
Deamon Tweaks have a good selection of seats but those that are approved for motorsport are not the type you are after.
The nearest seat to what your requirement are is the OMP Branshatch seat Pt No: OMPHA757 but it is not FIA Approved and may not pass examination by a scrutineer.
A related item to seats is the seat belt - make sure that what ever seat you buy is compatible with the MSA approved seat belts and vies versa.
