Hi Robin,
Thanks for the advise, I'll have to wait till later in the week to start putting the seats back together, I've had to order the straps from my local stockist so should get them by Wed;
I am a little concerned regarding the seat foam, just a further question, is the foam shaped for the base ?? if not I might go to my local shop and buy some heavy duty stuff.
By the way, I got 5 gallons of Duckams 20/50 @ £5.95 a gallon on Friday, at the local Boyes shop I use..... good these Feb; sales !!
Regarding the seat base, a further word. I prefer a firmer seat, hence my buying my own foam. The normal foam is 2 inches thick. I used 2.5 inches, which made it a bit of a tussle getting the seat base cover in place. If you prefer a slightly firmer sear I would say a reasonable compromise would be 2 inch thick firmer stuff. This will make rebuilding the seat easier.
The seat base is shaped. I copied mine from the old base I took off. If your old base cannot be copied then just cut the foam to the same shape as the outside of the seat base tubing. The seat base extends to under the seat back.
Don't store up too much oil or a nation across the pond might invade you!
Robin.
I've just had a call from my local stockist, the straps are there so I'll pick them up tomorrow. I will have a good look at the seat bases while I'm there and decide what to do.. so I should get on with them pretty quick now, need to have a drive..............
I might buy some more oil tomorrow as I pass the other branch of the store on the way to the Moggy dealership............... I like to keep ahead of the people across the water....lol.. they most likely put the price up now adolf bush is threatening again............

Now got the straps & going to have a go at fitting them, didn't buy the foam base from dealer as it was rubbish & very expensive.... using heavy duty stuff. will let you know how easy/difficut to complete job.

One seat completed this morning, bought the same type of foam as you Robin, bit of a fiddly job, and stretching those straps....... well !! Think I'd reather lift the engine out.............
At least doing the drivers seat first, I can go for a run over the weekend and do the passenger seat next week, should be a lot easier now I know what to expect..
Thanks to all for your input and advise..
