Maybe you should grab the high offer you have received.

I was just going by what you said in a previous post, about two people offering you money----( 'first one with a decent offer in cash can have them' ) is why I made my comment. A bird in the hand and all that, especially as money is not your main concern. You seem to have had a change of heart. In which case suggest you just sit back and wait for the auction to end. Patience is a virtue

I think you can end it but it's a bit naughty if someone has bid. Depends how you personally feel about doing it.
PS: How many miles has it done?

I'm sure I rad somewhere its around 32k(genuine).You can end your auction as long as theres still over 12hrs remaining. There are a list of options at right of your item on the summary page.
Re: How Much is my 1098 Engine/Gearbox worth ?
I have NO control over Heritage and their certificate for your car. The information from Heritage SHOULD be accurate - if it is not - then the possibility may be that your car is a 'ringer' - have you considered that ? I certainly don't feel in anyway responsible for any failure at Heritage! You can talk people in to paying a high price for your engine - but the reality is - the actual condition is unknown....and anyone buying it is taking a bit of a chance. You are planning this complicated conversion to Jap motor and autotrans - for a single trip to Greece?? Why bother ? On a long journey you stick the car in top gear - and DRIVE. No great advantage in autotrans unless negotiating the Peripherique -something like that......

Re: How Much is my 1098 Engine/Gearbox worth ?
Yes, regarding condition, It could be that the speedo packed up at, what was it? Oh yes 32,142miles, and ran another 32,142 miles!
Getting a certificate is a good idea, as mentioned if the numbers don't tally it could be a sign that something in the cars history has gone wrong.

Hi John,
In fairness to Roy (bmcecosse) I think it was me who suggested that you might obtain a heritage certificate to obtain factory records for your car. After all, these are seen to be THE definitive stats and numbers and are often used as evidence to DVLA when disputes arise over registration numbers and other issues (particularly the date of production viz-a-viz MOT/No MOT certificate required). I'm sorry to hear that there appear to be some discrepancies between the info you have on the car and the info in the factory records. To be honest, I have never heard of that happening before. I have heard of errors at DVLC when information was transferred from the old buff log books to the newer style V5 as was but not on the factory records. That said, I think your beef is probably with the BMIHT at Gaydon and not wholly with those who offer advice and support via the forum. After all, you can choose to ignore anything we all post - it's your choice at the end of the day.
I think I mentioned in a post in your thread about mating a 948 box to a 1098 engine that the cert would cost about £40. It is many years since I last obtained a cert (my last one cost £5
) and I think the office was staffed by volunteers at that time and it did take a few weeks to appear but in most cases there is no rush it's just one of those things that some owners like to have. I do suggest you write to them if you genuinely feel agrieved by the service you received and the costs and, perhaps to open up a discussion as to why certain info appears different on your car.
Good luck
Bruce

Maybe the Heritage Cert is wrong - who knows.....it's certainly not MY fault and I take great exception to your accusation. The 'mileage' is indeed open to any number of possibilities. What was it - 132,432 something like that ? MANY Minors have been round the clock - mine certainly has...... It would worry me that an old engine had only seemingly done low miles. Maybe started up and run 1/2 mile to the shops every day....which is NOT good for anything!

Re: How Much is my 1098 Engine/Gearbox worth ?
My certificate was spot on, everything tallied, maybe I got a different car park attendant.
I would still be worried about the discrepancy and want to get to the bottom of it but that's just me but you may have difficulties influencing the heritage people, as they spend their working day doing this stuff, whereas you will only be quoting your set of numbers whose complete history you can guarantee only by hearsay. However you seem quite self assured so just put it down to being their fault. I will agree with others though, advice is given with the best intention, and no one is forced to take it. Just don't show the cert to a potential buyer of the car!
Yes I know you're never going to sell it!

I'm sure you friend is as honest as the day is long but plenty of people who live in 7 million pound houses are more than capable of coming out with bulls*'t. What they own or simply have has no bearing on their character whatsoever. Don't know why you think like that.

Hi John,
Sounds like you should be going back to Gaydon and questioning what they have told you. Firstly though, I would apologize to the gentleman you mention who gave you the information (right or wrong). As a retired QC I'm sure you are more aware than most of the possible consequences of making such accusations in the public domain.
As for the engine, you seem to think it's something special. I agree it's not worth stripping for parts but at the same time it's not a Cosworth BDA or Lotus Twin Cam which would go for thousands no matter which Beatle owned it. Interestingly, the DVLA don't list any Aston Martins with the registration H3LLO, HEL10 or similar....

Yes, I do agree, it looks like a mistake. Politely mention this to whoever and ask them if they would mind checking the first number again. The correct approach can work wonders. Regarding your last post------
Me thinks you are too taken in with this rich and famous business, some of them are amongst the biggest rouges out there, as mentioned your buddy may well be ok but your mention of his CV suggests you think this guarantees that type of persons integrity. You've obviously not been had over!
PS: You've mentioned that flipping mileage so many times now, please stop.
Surely a rich and famous man would not lie about his reg number
