need help on distributor/leads

Post by mfc297 »

hi all, ive bought a 1954 morris minor split screen van which im going to restore, i have just fired it up after many years standing but have a couple of questions, first off what is the correct set up with the plug leads i belive its 1342 but which order do the leads go on the distributor and second i need to fit a new distributor as i have somehow managed to brake the vac bit on mine when taping the distributor round to try and set it up right, i belive mine is a dm2 model but will a 25d distributor be a dirict replacement, any help would be much appreciated.

Yes 1342 and yes a new 25D will be the way to go. Treat it to a brand new one from Simonbbc or Accuspark.

To find which lead is no 1 you have to turn the engine over to get cylinder 1 on the tdc with both valves closed then look at where the rotor arm is pointing. That will be no 1.
