Would they accept the information from the driver's handbook which shows the kerbside weights? 2 door = 764kg 4 door = 786kg.

Plenty on ebay:

That's almost what I'm after, but not quite.

I need a maximum laden weight for the car, plus passengers and luggage - basically, DVLA want a number beyond which it can be deemed to be "overloaded" - this being one of the main purposes of a revenue weight. If it didn't have one, it wouldn't be much of a problem because they can't retrospectively demand one, but because it has one, they are very reluctant to give it up. (In the same way as they don't take kindly to being asked to remove engine numbers from a V5, although if your V5 doesn't have an engine number on, they don't require you to add one!)

No need to faff around with weights - send them a photo of the car & chassis plate together with the V5c logbook.

As Roy says, it SHOULD be taxed as a Historic - same as Roy! :P
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Unless you live near to DVLA swansea you do not have a local office anymore.
They won't accept callers at swansea either!
according to the goverment info pack, Swansea local office closed on 25th Oct 2013..
see page 4
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 151013.pdf

"Closing the local offices because people want more online services" is a good laugh.
95% of the previously available services are now only possible by post!
Foreign license checking has been dropped altogether, and VIC has been caught by VOSA until they can find someone else to own it.
Therefore no new online services..

Also funny how they didn't show a year by year drop in local office customer numbers... the services were useful (and in use), but the DVLA is a quango and therefore not accountable to the public.
Didn't appear to be all that accountable to their staff either!
