Any one else been having problems with new master cylinders? Just had number 2 go wrong. Basically after servere bleeding session when re-fiited, pressure just goes. Cannot bleed anymore as pedal just flops to the floor! Very frustaring after a 1 hour or so bleeding, brakes almost there, bleed once more with fresh fluid and **** no brakes! So number 3 has been supplied.....so before another week-end of fun....any ideas?

after bleeding one cylinder did you check that the fluid was above (nearly overflowing) so air could not be drawn into thge system!? this was a problem i faced many times.. and yes its bloody iirratatii#ng! you do know that you start with the wheel furthest away right? then work up to the drivers side? well i hope ive been of help if not sorry! charly

Thanks Charly for advice, duly followed proper bleeding order. I have a remote bulkhead brake reservoir to avoid running out of fluid. Normally have brother under car bleeding brakes, me pumping the pedal and my son keeping an eye on the fluid level, topping up when getting low. Saturday is removale/re-placement and bleed again......

is it the 'not very original' Lockheed logo'd master cylinder you've been using or the 'doesn't even pretend to be original' pattern ones? (I got a strong hint from someone to avoid the pattern M/Cs in case of trouble)s quite rere for a new master cylinder to be faulty

PAULB.... only thing I can suggest is that you have a batch of
M/Cs with the wrong size rubbers!! Early ones had a 7/8" bore
later ones were 13/16" bore (marked on the M/C body) for the
1098 cars. Were all these units from the same supplier,and who
was it?? Of course this could only be a problem if you had ordered
the early 7/8" type?
