Test the dynamo output with a meter.

There are two ways to test the output, one is to simply connect your multi meter across the battery terminals and while an assistant revs the engine check the reading, it should be between 13.5 and 14.5 volts.
The second way is to disconnect the field and output terminals of the dynamo, connect the two together with a short length of cable, connect the red cable of your multi meter to the cable joining the terminals and the black cable of your multi meter to a good earth on the car, rev the engine to no more than 2000rpm and the multimeter should show around 20v.
Obviously you need to set the meter to read 0-20 dc volts for both tests.
I would google and download a copy of the minor service manual it also explains how to test the output of the dynamo.

Sandun -we've been over all this before. You need to check the belt is tight - then run the engine at decent revs and measure the battery volts with a DC voltmeter. Should be 13.8/14 volts. Come back when you have run this test!

Re: Dynamo work or not ?
Hi Thank u , i check dynamo as u said - it was fine work , i found problem that not charging Battery , it was problem of Armature adjusting screw of control box , i remove the screw and crean it and reset , now fine work charging and it show in my Amper meter - ok can u tell me the fuse box has 2 fuse , tell me what is the Amper of fuse that i use for it ?
Re: Dynamo work or not ?
Well done - but make sure it is not charging TOO MUCH !! What volts does it show when running at good revs? It must NOT go above 14 volts or it will wreck the new battery! 35 amps fuses in the fuse holders.

Thanks ,I has set a Smith Voltmeter -battery condition voltmeter it show 11v to 15 v - but when i start the car it show 12 v then i speed the car it show about 12 .5 the i set a multimeter to the battery terminal it show 13. 5 - why smith meter not show it - and i see after some five the smith meter reset to the 0 - the meter is new i dont know how it work - i had set it wires - for car body and + for fuse box A4 nut -(bottom nut of fuse box)[frame]
[/frame] what is the Deference of Volt meter and Battery condition indicator
- Can I use the smith Battery conditioner to adjust the control box charging limit to 13.8v to 14 V

Re: Dynamo work or not ?
Not really - it's just an 'indicator' - and far from accurate, Use the multimeter.

Re: Dynamo work or not ?
Good advice, on the fuses, however, depending on where you are the fuse standards might be different. A 35 amp British fuse is equivalent to about a 20 amp AGC fuse. (AGC standards indicate the amperage a fuse can withstant continuosly while the British standard indicates the amperage that will blow the fuse instantaneously)bmcecosse wrote:Well done - but make sure it is not charging TOO MUCH !!
