After visiting my friend Alain and drinking his excellent farm produced
pineau, which they all seem to produce in this region we had a good nights sleep.

Next morning we were on the trail again for barn finds.

After arriving into this sleepy little village we were greeted by this barn.

Once inside we were greeted by this great looking Citroen Traction Avant 1956.

It had been sitting here for ten years.

The owner took it off the road to repair the front brakes and the gearbox linkage , which he sorted out but never got round to using the car again.

It needs to be repainted in its original black colour.
The interior is excellent and original.
The bodywork is very good, with slight corrosion to a couple of door bottoms. But lurking in the darknest of the barn were many Citroen spares including a full set of doors, trunk lid and front grill all in excellent order.

On shelves were many smaller spares for the Citroen which the chap had collected over the last 30 years or so.
A deal was struck to clear the barn spares and the car.

Not a Morris but a great car non the less.

[Another day...Another farm.

This we were told held a large stash of cars, tractors, motorcycles and farm machinery.

The owner who was in late sixties told me the farm had been in four generations of his family.

Hardly anything had been sold or disposed of in this time.

This beats sitting on a beach all day long. You might get excited by the young french fillies scampering over the sand and all that topless sunbathing......but nothing gets a petrolheads adrenalin going more than the sight of an ancient farmyard barn and what lurks in its depths.

All of these cars were the Morris and Austins of their day in France in the 1960`s.

All these cars were very rust free, interiors were very good, and engines turned.

After taking them away from these less than desirable surroundings, giving them a good clean inside and outside, then you would have a good car to check over mechanically ready to put back on the road.

Our Renault 4CV 1958 looked just like these when purchased last September, but after one weeks work she was back on the road again.

With no welding or body corrosion it saves you months of work.

Some nice old iron there, really liked the Model A that was next to the MGB.
Incidentally, Alec Issigonis was hugely impressed by the Citroen Traction Avant, an it is said to have influenced his thinking when designing the Minor.

Some of the cars had no great monetary value so will sit here for evermore, just like the one in the next photo.!!!

This was a Surprising find a pile of old wood.!!

But when we shifted it away we found this totally original, low mileage , rust free car.
When I lifted the floor mats the underside was as it left the factory.


Citroen Ami 6 Break Dating from 1968.

A very easy project to return to the road.

Again after a good clean you would have a cracking car.
