Brake bleeding after having the servo off..

Quick question....

Anything I should be doing when bleeding the brakes after having the brake servo off? Or is it just the usual...rns,ros,fns, fos?

I've not looked closely, but i take it there's not a bleed nipple on the servo itself?

I did read that the car should be running if bleeding the brakes after having the servo off?

Just bleed them as normal,it will be fine. I would use this as an opportunity to renew the brake fluid if you don't know when it was last changed.

Cheers Trickydicky! The fluid was changed by myself when I did the brakes 3 years ago now, using dot4

Hi Guy, it is advisable to change dot4 every 2 years if you want to keep your hydraulics in good order as it readily absorbs water from the atmosphere which will cause corrosion to the braking internals. I do mine every 12 months just to be sure as it saves time and money in the long run.

All done! Just been for a test drive and it feels fine! I bled it at the brake servo.

Passed this morning after failing yesterday on the back brake binding. So a quick clean up and adjustment and she passed today! Woo hoo!

So good to have her running again! Just need to sort out the way she is running now. Certain it's running rich. Can't really get any sort of half throttle down whilst driving without it running as though the choke is in, and there is no power gain, i have to accelerate using only slight throttle opening. Ok down hill but a bit slow, read very slow, when going up hill!!

Will have to go back to basics with the carb set up i think.

In the mean time, she running enough to get her to Crathes for the vintage/classic motor car event this sunday, she just needs a wash and polish!
