They have quite a considerable negative effect on performance, fuel consumption, noise and handling!moggymarris wrote:Whys that?DAVIDMCCULLOUGH wrote:Looking good![]()

Two ways to look at that. First; the Minor is relatively slow, uneconomic, noisy and poor handling anyway, so it doesn't matter.
Or second; the minor is relatively slow, uneconomic, noisy and poor handling so it needs all the help it can get!

Yes exactly! That is the point, driving an old quirky car can be as much about style as anything else, so why not add to that style! The whole thing is a compromise anyway.

Not true at all! The Minor is a great handling car, you are confusing grip with handling.Neil MG wrote:They have quite a considerable negative effect on performance, fuel consumption, noise and handling!moggymarris wrote:Whys that?DAVIDMCCULLOUGH wrote:Looking good![]()

And your carb must need setting up as my traveller is economic, giving 38-39mph in daily driving and up to 45mpg on a run.
The noise isn't too bad at sensible speeds, my traveller is not much noisier than my modern Toyota at 60mph.
As for slow, I find the Minor can keep up with the traffic except on the dual carriage way and motor way, but really, 60mph isn't far off the national speed limit.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

Hey John, lighten up! As I said it's all relative. Compared to modern cars all those things are absolutely true, but there would be something wrong if they weren't , considering the design is from six or seven decades ago! Anyone choosing to drive a Morris Minor for its speed, economy, quiet or handling seriously needs to get out more. They are great little cars, but it is nostalgia that is their biggest attraction.

Hey moggymaris,
Well done for making the car what you want it to be,
One question, where did you get the whitewalls from?

Hi cheers well i couldnt find any whitewalls after ages looking and driving to different places so i tried these white wall trims which are like a rubber which seal behind the rim and when you pop the tyre on it grabs it which seem to work ok and i just got them off ebayminormonkey wrote:Hey moggymaris,
