Was going to order some new points. The ones on eBay have the little plastic thingy where the wire exits the dizzy.
Mine is different. The wire from the dizzy is held in place by a small nut.
Not sure about which points to buy, or how to identify the dizzy.
Opinions welcome.........Thanks in advance.
On the side....use a mirror.... look for 25D which would be the normal original. However a better replacement is the later model 45D - which someone may have fitted. Top tip - ONLY use good old original points - many supplied these days are very inferior. If your points are ok - don't change them...just reset the gap to 15 thou.
Thanks......had visions of having to crawl under the motor to have a look. Does the live wire from the points being held by a small nut where it leaves the dizzy give any clue? Not the plastic holder with the Lucar connector my 1098 had.......
The vacuum advance pipe is also different, copper screw on pipe on a DM2, plastic push fit on a 25D
Modern points have a soft plastic heal which wears rapidly, closing up the points gap
