Great car in a lovely setting. Whereabouts is that? Yorkshire?
Best wishes,
Mike.
1954 Series 2: 4 door: "Sally" -- Back on the ground with (slave) wheels, now being sprayed by me, slowly......
1970 Triumph Herald 1200: "Hetty" -- Driven back from Llangollen in Wales (twice.....)
1952 Morris Minor MM highlight with sidevalve engine still fitted, wants work, so joins the queue for now......
The trafficators are a bit of a mystery. The car has modern indicators. The near side trafficator goes up and down, like its powered by a little motor. The offside one does nothing. The dealer seems to know very little about that.
Would be nice to have them both working.......
Nothing complicated about the trafficator where I. Yorks? If near Scarborough call round and we'll get it going.Don't let Roy see the headlamp peaks they're not allowed!

Thanks for the offer, but I live in the Scottish Borders. I bought the car from West Riding Classic Cars.
If you can offer any advice re: getting the trafficator working, it would be appreciated.
Theyre quite robust.Clean up the connectors.Make sure the ground is clean. Pull the connectors off at the trafficator and check for voltage with a meter or test bulb when indicators switched on.If not you need to test for continuity. If the power is there remove the unit.Switch cleaner or WD40 on the arm on the solenoid and lightly oil the moving parts. They can get stiff if not used for some time and just need a bit of lubrication to get them going again.Test it off the car with your battery or charger. They can be sourced easily if the coils burnt out.
VERY nice car - the bonnet flash is surely LCV type? Only problem is the ghastly/silly/dangerous headlight peaks..... Lose them and the car will be perfect!
I'd say it's a van bonnet too, looks good though.
Yorkshire is a lovely place isn't it.

The bonnet and badges are Series MM. What engine has it got and what is the chassis number?
The trafficator problem is probably a loose wire, bad earth. You will have to take the side card off to get access to the trafficator. A light spray of WD 40 and continual operation of the switch will gradually loosen it up

Lovely car, regarding your indicator / tafficator arrangement are they driven by the same switch or have you got two different switches?.
Also are you using the white front sidelights as indicators?
Regarding the headlight peaks, I suppose that some people may find them attractive but as BMC points out there are a potential safety problem for pedestrians, the injuries they could cause even at low speeds could be catastrophic.
What was their original design purpose? Were they purely ornamental or did they have a function?
Van bonnet? I'm learning by the day. lol.
Thanks for all your replies. Yes, Yorkshire is nice....but for scenery (and classic cars) the Borders is hard to beat.
Think it's because of all the country roads, lack of heavy traffic, etc.
I've only got the new keeper details slip.....no V5 as yet. Reg no. is LAS 914. Engine is 998cc. It's original side-valve lump is long gone. Can't see a chassis no. on the slip.

Driven by the same switch. And yes, front sidelights as indicators.
Headlight peaks? I like them....but surely they are ornamental.
